Chocolate Cream of Wheat

Yesterday morning I decided I would make Chocolate Oatmeal for breakfast, only to discover I had less than 1/2 cup of oats! So then I switched gears to making just regular Cream of Wheat but thought "hey, why not make the cream of wheat chocolate?" And so I did. It was very yummy, I believe the hubby liked it better than the oatmeal, but then he is not a big oatmeal fan. So here is another dessert for breakfast - yummm!

2 cups milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup cream of wheat
1/3 cup honey

Combine milk, cocoa, butter and salt in saucepan.
Over med-lo, heat till butter is melted and mixture resembles chocolate milk. Stir in cream of wheat and honey. Continue cooking till thick and bubbly, stirring almost constantly.
Serve and enjoy!

  3. Hi, I am trying to heal two autoimmune conditions, so I changed my diet. In order to avoid hybrid grains, I bought some expensive Kamut Khorasan wheat. I no longer eat oats, so I had no clue what to have for breakfast that would be like oats. I used to love cream of wheat when I was a child, so I decided to make it with Kamut wheat. But the taste of Kamut wheat was a little too strong for my kids. That is how I found your recipe. My kids loved it! I have a new hot breakfast that I can enjoy. I used cocoa for the kids, but I made mine with carob (since I can't have chocolate either). Great recipe, thank you very much! My new diet makes me depressed sometimes, and this recipe will help that!
